The principles of Yin & Yang are fundamental to Balance & Health.
The Nervous System is Yang. The Endocrine System is Yin.
Each nerve plexus and endocrine gland coincide to generate the electromagnetic vortices called “chakras.”
Once a reliable physical fitness practice is established, we are better prepared to navigate the intricate territory of the mind and emotions. Mental & emotional fitness is cultivated by enhancing the skills of concentration, focus, and patience. With regards to expanding our sphere of awareness, the phrase “if you don’t go within, you go without” is significant in that if we direct all of our attention on the outer world, the opinions of others, and our social situation, we often lose out on developing a relationship with our true self. Many people in today’s world fall into the trap of seeking external validation, and this leads to great potential to be manipulated or dependent to an unhealthy degree. True Mental + Emotional Fitness allows us to be grounded & centred in our interactions with the external world, and able to protect our (sub)consciousness from influences that are not in our best interest.
When approached in a proper manner, mental and emotional fitness is defined as the unification of the body, mind, and spirit. If these three facets are not unified, then one may appear fit & healthy on the surface, yet never attain true integrity. The purpose of mental + emotional training, according to this philosophy, is to ultimately enhance our capacity to do good work for ourselves and humanity. The good work that needs to be done is to first “know thyself,” and second, to “love thy neighbour.” By being fit in mind & body, we can be confident rather than arrogant, courageous rather than cowardly, and we can step into our true power in order to first, not allow the corruption of humanity to continue, and second, to do the work required to secure a better life for future generations.
Mental + Emotional Fitness
“Emotion can be the enemy. If you give into your emotion, you lose yourself. You must be at one with your emotion, because the body always follows the mind.”
— Bruce Lee
The Autonomic & Somatic Nervous Systems transmits electrical information via impulses and nerves.
It is the receiver and transmitter of electrical yang energy that is available in and around our bodies.
The Nervous System
The sympathetic nervous system carries signals that put your body on alert.
The para-sympathetic nervous system carries signals that help your body relax.
Meditative exercises help to process emotions, thoughts, and stress by disengaging the sympathetic nervous system and promoting relaxation.
The Endocrine System uses hormones to control and coordinate your body's metabolism, energy level, reproduction, growth and development, and response to injury, stress, and mood.
It is made up of glands that make hormones. Hormones are the body's chemical messengers.
The Endocrine System
An unhealthy endocrine system does not produce the right amount of good hormones, resulting in excessive stress levels, weight gain, fatigue, trouble becoming pregnant, improper development during puberty, and weak bones.
A healthy endocrine system produces the right amount of good hormones that facilitate metabolism, growth & development, reproduction, and a sense of happiness and general wellbeing.
Meditative exercises help to reduce production of the cortisol hormone that circulates in the system, triggered by day to day stress as well as habitually operating in “fight or flight” due to trauma or poor life choices.
Gnostic Vocalization for the Nervous System + Endocrine Glands
Recorded at a Gnostic Retreat. This is a group vocalization practice of the seven vowels. 30 Minutes
While vocalizing, imagine the sound filling and awakening the corresponding energy center (chakra).
I: top of head and between the eyebrows (“see”)
E: larynx plexus (“say”)
O: cardiac plexus (“go”)
U: solar plexus (“you”)
A: plexus of the lungs (“pa pa”)
M: prostate or uterus (“mmmm”)
S: sexual organs (“sssss”)
Chakras are nourished by energy. The energy of sound, concentrated and directed with prayer, can stimulate them into activity. Thus, there is a specific vibration of sound for each chakra. Those are the seven sacred vowels: I, E, O, U, A, M, S, which are hidden in the symbolic name Iohannes (John) of the book of Revelation.
By vocalizing these sounds with relaxation, concentration, and prayer, the chakras are nourished. Yet to fully develop them, one needs to work with the fire of the spinal column, known as Kundalini or the Pentecostal fire.
"The seven most important glands of the human organism constitute the seven laboratories controlled by the Law of the Triangle. Each of these glands has an exponent in a chakra of the organism. Each one of the seven chakras is found located in intimate correlation with the seven churches of the spinal medulla. The seven churches of the dorsal spine control the seven chakras of the Grand Sympathetic Nervous System. The seven churches become intensely active with the ascent of the Kundalini along the medullar canal. The Kundalini dwells in the electrons. The Sages meditate on it; devotees adore it, and in homes where the Perfect Matrimony reigns, it is worked with practically."
- Samael Aun Weor, The Perfect Matrimony
